Saaeed Eleia Dawood, director of the Organizational Department of the Regional Leadership of the Syria's Baath Arab Socialist Party who doubles as chairman of the Syrian Arab-Korea Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The committee decided to organize diverse political and cultural events for celebrating the Day of the Sun as the most auspicious common holiday of humankind.
