Pyongyang, March 14 (KCNA) -- Press conferences took place in Kwangju and other parts in North and South Jolla provinces of south Korea on March 11 in protest against the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises being staged by the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean warmongers. Present there were members of civic, public and religious organizations and political parties. Members of civic, public and religious organizations in Kwangju belonging to the Kwangju-South Jolla Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration said a touch-and-go situation is now prevailing on the Korean Peninsula. They expressed concern over the fact that a war is looming due to the "sanctions" against the north and the joint military exercises. Opposition party members in Kwangju held that the present danger of war is attributable to the U.S. hard-line policy based on the one-sided "sanctions" against the DPRK. They will turn out in actions together with the Kwangju citizens desirous of peace, they said, calling upon all political camp to positively join in the actions for peace against war. The North Jolla Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and other civic and public organizations in North Jolla Province said that the danger of war will not be removed from the Korean Peninsula as long as the hostile policy toward the north persists. The organizations noted that they would intensify the anti-war actions through candlelight rallies and demonstrations in Jonju, Kunsan and other places of the province. The South Jolla Provincial Solidarity for Progress and other civic and public organizations of South Jolla Province noted they would conduct such actions as information service, candlelight rally and meeting on the situation in demand of the halt to Key Resolve and Foal Eagle. |
