Choral Wartime Song Contest Held
Pyongyang, March 16 (KCNA) -- Appealing songs, composed during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), are nowadays heard everywhere in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The wartime songs encourage the army and people to turn out in an all-out action against the provokers in response to the statement recently issued by a spokesman for the Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army as regards the grave situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula.

Some days ago, a contest of singing wartime songs in chorus while marching in array was held by university students in North Hwanghae Province.

Among the songs were "Song of National Defence", "To a Decisive Battle", "Song of Coast Artillerymen" and "Advance". Through the contest the students showed their burning hatred toward the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppet forces seeking to provoke a nuclear war.

Ri Chol Hyok, a student of Ri Kye Sun Sariwon University of Education No. 1, told KCNA:

"The wartime songs give us confidence in sure victory. Encouraged by the songs, the heroic KPA soldiers defended every inch of the country at the cost of their blood in the last war.

Now is the time for us to achieve a victory in another possible war, singing the songs."
