University Sci-tech Festival Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 18 (KCNA) -- The 28th Scientific and Technological Festival of Kim Il Sung University took place on March 12-15. According to Ri Sang Il, deputy director of the Natural Science Guidance Department of the university, the festival was aimed to display the signal achievements and intensify the exchange in science and technology. On display there were more than 160 pieces of science and technology achievements made by hundreds of teachers, researchers and postgraduates of the university. What caught eyes among them is atomic force microscope, a nano measuring and controlling instrument. The microscope is instrumental to nano science, material precision measurement and manufacture of semiconductor and integrated circuit. The exhibits included such achievements as refolding of protein technology and surgical repair for infants with congenital heart disease, presented by Pyongyang Medical College under the university. There were also weeder, levee tilling machine, various kinds of biopesticides and data on technology for potato seed production and high-yield culture, displayed by Kye Ung Sang Agricultural College and Pyongyang Agricultural College. Those scientific inventions have been applied to the nation's basic science and economic development. The festival involved a presentation of science and technology papers and exchange of intellectual products and new technologies. |
