Koreans in Japan Protest against Japan's Policy of Discrimination against Korean Schools
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- There took place an emergency meeting at the Korean Primary, Secondary and High School in Hiroshima Prefecture to protest against the suspension of payment of subsidies to the Korean School in Hiroshima Prefecture on Mar. 1. This meeting was held against the backdrop of unabated actions in various parts of Japan against the Japanese government's unjust policy of discrimination against Korean schools.

Present there were Koreans in Japan, students and their parents and Japanese people.

Speakers at the meeting accused the Hiroshima Prefectural Office of having suspended the payment of subsidies to the above-said school, timed to coincide with the Japanese government's decision on totally excluding Korean schools in Japan from the application of the tuition-waiver program for senior high schools.

This is obviously an unjust measure, they noted, declaring they would stage dynamic actions to get the issue settled in the future.

A written request to be sent to the governor of Hiroshima Prefecture was read out at the meeting.

On the same day the Korean School in Yamaguchi Prefecture held a press conference at the Yamaguchi Prefectural Office at which it issued a statement titled "We strongly protest against the unjust shelving of subsidies to the Korean School in Yamaguchi Prefecture".
