U.S., Wrecker of Peace
Pyongyang, March 19 (KCNA) -- A touch-and-go situation is prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military exercises kicked off by the U.S. imperialists, south Korean puppets and other hostile forces.

Involved in the DPRK-targeted exercises are nuclear-powered carrier task force loaded with at least 100 nuclear warheads, B-52H and other war means of the U.S. forces for making ground, naval and air nuclear strikes and armed forces of its satellite countries which participated in the last Korean War (1950-1953) under the helmet of the "UN Forces".

Those hostile moves threw a grave obstacle to the DPRK's efforts to be focused on economic construction so that the people may not tighten their belts any longer on the basis of the war deterrence for self-defence.

Moreover, the exercises are under way on the Korean Peninsula turned into the world's biggest hotspot, which is little different from nuclear magazine.

In recent years, the U.S. has amassed huge armed forces in the Asia-Pacific region in line with its new defence strategy in an aim to overpower the region's powers by dint of military strength.

60 percent of its naval forces were deployed in this region and military bases are being set up in Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania and other parts of the region.

Meanwhile, the U.S. has formed multi-national military alliances with its allied countries to prevent them from having military collaboration with regional powers. Such moves are intended to lay a siege to the regional powers and sell U.S.-made arms to strife-torn areas.

Due to such intervention of the U.S., the Asia-Pacific region is turning into a hotspot where a military conflict may break out any time.

According to the 2012 report of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Asian and Oceanic nations took 44 percent of world's arms imports from 2007 to 2011 and Asian countries ranked first to fifth among the world's arms importers.

The increased imports were prompted by the U.S. scheme to spark a fresh arms race in the region by taking advantages of the territorial disputes over islands and borders.

It is likely that the current situation will cause a devastating result in the region.

The Asian nations should not side with the U.S. policy towards them, reminiscent of the policy in the anachronistic cold-war era.
