U.S. Sanctions against DPRK Bound to Go Bust: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, March 20 (KCNA) -- The U.S. and its allies are sadly mistaken if they think they can shake the revolutionary faith and will of the Korean people and break the single-minded unity of the DPRK through their base sanctions campaign. Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says this in a bylined article. Accusing the U.S. of having worked hard to impair the high international authority and position of the DPRK, obstruct its peaceful economic construction and undermine its socialism, the article goes on: The U.S. and its allies' sanctions against the DPRK are unprecedented in history for their harsh, base, persistent and protracted nature. Since November 1949 when it knocked into shape the Coordination Committee for Export to Communist Area, the U.S. has escalated sanctions against the DPRK by running the whole gamut of laws such as the "Act on Export Control" and the "Act on Foreign Aid." The U.S. and its allies prodded the UN Security Council into cooking up the "resolution on sanctions" 2087 on January 22, in particular, wantonly encroaching upon the inviolable sovereignty of the DPRK. They again fabricated the "resolution on sanctions" 2094 against the DPRK on March 7. They restricted and banned the dealings in almost fields of the DPRK under the pretext of dual use ranging from goods for people's living to equipment of major factories and ultra-modern technology, to say nothing of defence field. A typical example of their actions was that the U.S. unreasonably linked the Banco Delta Asia in Macao, China with the DPRK in 2005 and prevented U.S. businesses and banks as well as financial organs in the world from dealing with the Macao bank. There are hundreds of sanction-related acts and measures being applied by the U.S. against the DPRK. With nothing can the U.S. block the DPRK from invariably advancing along the road of Songun, the article says, urging the U.S. to stop at once its new sanctions racket and adventurous joint military exercises against the DPRK. |
