Withdrawal of U.S. Forces Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- Members of civic and public organizations in south Korea demanded the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from south Korea as regards the GIs crimes occurring one after another.

Yu Yong Jae, member of the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, deplored the situation in which south Koreans' life, property and security are threatened by the GIs crimes.

He condemned GIs for assaulting inhabitants and policemen and driving cars over them.

The ceaseless GIs crimes are attributable to the shackling U.S.-south Korea "Status of Forces Agreement" (SOFA), he said, accusing the south Korean authorities of not punishing the criminals, reading the U.S. face.

He called upon civic and public organizations to turn out in actions to prevent GIs crimes and protect the people's rights.

Kwon O Hon, honorary chairman of the Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, said that GIs crimes have been committed since the U.S. forces occupied south Korea.

The basic way of preventing GIs crimes is not to revise the SOFA but have the U.S. forces withdrawn from south Korea, he noted.

The U.S. forces should be withdrawn from south Korea at an early date as they are perpetrating all evils and crimes and only bringing misfortune to the Korean nation, he stressed.
