U.S. Can Never Evade Blame for Grave Situation in Korea: KCNA Commentary
|

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is escalating the confrontation by describing the DPRK's just countermeasures for self-defense as "provocation" and "threat". Recently high-ranking officials of the U.S. vied with each other to talk rubbish that the U.S. is concerned over the bellicose remarks of the north and this is "defamation of the efforts of the international community to ensure lasting peace and stability". This rhetoric is intended to create impression that the DPRK's countermeasures put peace and stability in the region at peril and escalate the tension on the Korean Peninsula. This is nothing but sophism turning black into white. This cannot be construed otherwise than a foolish ploy to pass the buck for the present crisis caused by their sinister moves to stifle the DPRK to it and stir up an atmosphere of putting international pressure upon it. The U.S. is the arch criminal that prodded the UN into slapping "sanctions" against the DPRK by labeling its satellite launch for peaceful economic development as illegal action and violation of law and compelled it to conduct an underground nuclear test and nullify the Armistice Agreement. Despite the DPRK's repeated warnings, the U.S. kicked off large-scale war maneuvers for aggression, pushing the situation on the Korean Peninsula to the worst phase of confrontation and the brink of war. The U.S. trumpeting about "provocation" and "threat" from the north in disregard of the stark fact is no more than a pretext to justify its aggressive hostile policy toward the DPRK and step it up. The U.S. is a war provocateur and wrecker of peace and stability as it has brought such misfortune and pain to the Korean people through its ceaseless sanctions and moves to stifle the DPRK and threat of aggression for such a long period. On the eve of the DPRK's nuclear test for which the U.S. and other hostile forces put "sanctions" against the DPRK and termed "provocation", the U.S. Army Academy conducted "2013 War Game" in a bid to stifle the DPRK. In south Korea, U-2 and hundreds of airmen have monitored the DPRK's military communication, movements of units and preparations for nuclear and missile tests every day since 1976. Even under the prevailing situation where acute confrontation may lead to a total war, the U.S. is busy openly staging nuclear strike maneuvers against the DPRK under the simulated conditions of an actual war with strategic bombers, nuclear-powered submarines and other nuclear strike means involved, crying out for "strong counteraction." The U.S. introduction of "three major nuclear mainstays" and "three major nuclear strike means" which it brandishes as means of blackmail and its bellicose remarks are an undisguised nuclear blackmail against the DPRK and the biggest threat to it. It was none other than the U.S. that brought an era of nuclear confrontation to this land. Its catastrophic consequences will not be confined to the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. and other hostile forces are to blame for the worst nuclear crisis threatening the peninsula, the first of its kind in the confrontation between the DPRK and the U.S. This is entirely attributable to the U.S. moves for a war against the DPRK and use of its legitimate satellite launch and nuclear test for self-defense as an opportunity to stifle it. The U.S. can never evade the responsibility for this crisis. |
