They envision building an airfield for take off and landing of helicopters with various missions including AH-1S in Ryonhwa-ri, Paekryong Island, while calling for beefing up forces on the five islands in the West Sea of Korea.

The residents of the islands are strongly protesting against the construction.

They said that the authorities move to deprive them of their living lots and paddy and non-paddy fields for the construction of the airfield, declaring they would stage actions against it including rallies.
