A lewd GI perpetrated a sexual assault against a south Korean woman in her 20s in Phyongthaek City on March 14.

Drunken GI gangsters committed violence against south Korean pedestrians in Tongduchon City on March 16. GIs beat policemen on their duty in Seoul on March 17.

What matters is that no heavy penalties are imposed upon GI criminals despite strong protest and denunciation of the south Korean people.

Unabated crimes of the U.S. forces in south Korea and their open escape from punishment are the products of the U.S. imperialists' arrogant policy of despising the Korean nation and south Korean puppet forces' sycophancy toward the U.S.

The U.S. imperialists have mercilessly cracked down on progressive and patriotic people in league with the traitors in south Korea for nearly seven decades since their landing in south Korea in September 1945. They are now behaving themselves as "liberator," while killing and insulting civilians everywhere.

In July 1966 they forced the puppet forces to sign the unequal "Status of Forces Agreement" (SOFA) to justify their extraterritorial practices.

SOFA bans the puppet forces from arresting and judging GI criminals in south Korea.

Due to SOFA, which indicates the arrogance of the U.S. and servility of the puppet forces, GI crimes in south Korea are on the daily increase and its people are suffering evermore unbearable misfortune, pain and disaster.

The hideous GI crimes in south Korea are one more unpardonable violation of dignity and sovereignty of the Korean nation.

Protest and appeal alone can never help protect dignity and sovereignty.

The army and people of the DPRK showed the world in practice in the 1950s what a resolute struggle they waged against the U.S. imperialists' criminal scenario to enslave all Koreans.

The south Koreans should courageously turn out in the on-going nationwide anti-U.S. struggle to put an end to the U.S. imperialists' hideous crimes and defend their dignity and sovereignty.
