GIs' Crimes Rampant in S. Korea: News Analyst

Pyongyang, March 28 (KCNA) -- All sorts of GI crimes are becoming more frequent in south Korea, bringing greater misfortune and pain to its people. At least 2 000 cases of crimes have been committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces in south Korea over the last five years. The number of crimes committed by them in 2009 is 64.2 percent higher than that in the previous year. According to data made public by the south Korean puppet Police Agency, GIs committed nearly 400 cases of various crimes such as violence, robbery and rape in 2010 alone. The puppet Ministry of Justice deplored that traffic accidents caused by GIs reached 165 cases in 2011 but their number increased to 166 in the first half of 2012. There were 319 high-profile crimes committed by GIs in Kyonggi Province alone from 2010 to the end of August in 2012. South Korea has turned into a horrible society under the reign of GIs crimes. This is a natural product of the pro-U.S. sycophantic policy of the puppet regime. The U.S.-south Korea "Status of Forces Agreement" (SOFA) is an unequal agreement as it grants all sorts of privileges to the U.S. forces characterized by extreme arrogance and brutality. On the strength of SOFA GIs are strutting in south Korea even after committing thrice-cursed crimes against humanity as they enjoy extraterritorial rights. Nevertheless, the south Korean authorities are blustering that "any action may hurt the feelings of the U.S." and "it may damage the alliance", letting GI criminals go unpunished. On the contrary, they are suppressing those people who turn out in anti-U.S. actions in demand of the U.S. forces' pullback and abrogation of SOFA, terming them "forces following the north". They make no scruple of resorting to such acts of treachery as sharply increasing the upkeep of the U.S. troops and offering the cradle of people as their military bases. All facts go to prove that south Koreans can never get rid of their misfortune and pain unless the puppet regime's pro-U.S. acts are brought to an end and the U.S. forces pulled out of south Korea. |
