The statement accused the "Saenuri Party" of deciding on the examination of qualifications of two lawmakers from the Unified Progressive Party.

The ruling party is taking issue with the course of selecting candidates for proportional representation of lawmakers from the Unified Progressive Party but prosecution's investigation had already cleared it of any suspicion, it said.

It branded the ruling party's deliberate decision on the examination of qualifications without any legal ground as an act against democracy as it is little different from a coup at the "National Assembly."

Such sudden farce staged by the "Saenuri Party" is a political retaliation against the criticism of the "presidential" candidate from the ruling party last year and a trick to undermine solidarity in the opposition camp and lay a self-justified ruling foundation, it held.

It urged the "Saenuri Party" stop such act at once.
