Nuclear War Will Seriously Affect World: News Analyst

Pyongyang, March 30 (KCNA) -- The Korean Peninsula is on the verge of a nuclear war due to the U.S. and its followers' moves. The nuclear war between the DPRK and the U.S. to be unleashed by the U.S. imperialists will not just confine to both countries. The Korean Peninsula, a strategic vantage point in which the interests of big powers are intertwined, is beset with the potential danger of a nuclear war. Experts in international affairs say that the outbreak of a war on the peninsula would mean a start of the third world war or worldwide thermo nuclear war, adding that the damage will affect the whole world. They estimate that it can cause economic losses running at 20 trillion U.S. dollars and destroy more than 500 big cities, claim the lives of at least one billion and entail the desertification of the earth. Now is the time for countries concerned with the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula to clarify their stand and attitude as to whether they stand for war or peace. There have been 14 500 wars in the world history but a nuclear war has never occurred after the emergence of nuclear weapons. But now the nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula has become unavoidable. This is a result of the U.S. persistent nuclear threats and its hostile policy toward the DPRK. The U.S. is underestimating the DPRK's nuclear deterrence. The U.S. is bluffing that it is holding an unchallenged edge over the DPRK in the number of nuclear weapons as well as strategic nuclear bombers, nuclear submarines and inter-continental ballistic missiles. It is regarding a war with the DPRK as sort of computer games. The U.S. and its allies are seriously mistaken. They should not forget the DPRK's warning that it will counter nuclear blackmail with merciless nuclear attack and war of aggression with an all-out war of justice. The army and people of the DPRK are waiting for an order for final attack after finishing the preparations for a war. |
