Mangyongdae Prize Sports Contest Opens

| Pyongyang, April 2 (KCNA) -- The Mangyongdae Prize Sports Contest was opened with due ceremony at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street Tuesday in the run-up to the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. Its participants will compete in nearly 40 events including football, basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, judo, field hockey, track and field, gymnastics in Pyongyang, Chongjin, Wonsan, Nampho and other cities. Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Ri Jong Mu made an opening address. At the end of the opening ceremony there took place the men's basketball game between the Sports Team of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education and the Sports Team of Pyongyang University of Architecture. |
