DPRK Strives for Progress in Pomiculture

Pyongyang, April 3 (KCNA) -- The National Fruit Agency of the DPRK is directing big efforts to creating a number of new orchards and properly managing them. According to an official concerned, dwarf apple orchards in Kosan County, Kangwon Province and Pukchong County, South Hamgyong Province have taken on new looks to meet the requirements of the present-day fruit farming. The agency set itself the goal to create new large-size orchards in the areas favorable for pomiculture. It is now stepping up the designing of orchards on the basis of deep analysis of its experience and the tendency of development in fruit farming. It also pays deep attention to supplying fruit farms with enough farming materials. In order to increase the fertility of soil, the agency took a measure to build production bases of organic fertilizers at all fruit farms. Vegetable insecticides have been applied to fruit trees. Through demonstration lectures and passing-on-technique meetings, it helps officials and farmers get a rich knowledge of fruit farming. |
