Munsu Hill Tells of Kim Il Sung's Patriotism
Pyongyang, April 6 (KCNA) -- A spring tree-planting campaign is going on in full swing in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

According to data available, some 50 million trees of more than 20 species have been planted throughout the country in this spring season.

In particular, Pyongyangites planted many shrubs and trees on Munsu Hill, where President Kim Il Sung had a tree planting 66 years ago.

On April 6, Juche 36 (1947), Kim Il Sung, together with anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk and young Kim Jong Il, mounted the hill out of patriotic mind to afforest the whole of the country.

After personally digging pits, he put larch saplings into them and covered their roots with soft soil. Then he watered those saplings he planted with much care, pouring on them even drinking water he brought to take.

He told officials that foresting was part of the work to liquidate the aftermath of Japan's colonial rule over Korea and it was of weighty significance in developing the economy and ensuring a better life of the people.

Those saplings now serve as witnesses to his ardent patriotism.
