The world is closely following the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the statement said, and went on:

The U.S. imperialists staged the large-scale joint military exercises from early in March with the huge armed forces involved including their troops, the south Korean puppet forces and their satellite forces.

Such bellicose military drills have now reached the phase of a real war with the open use of even nuclear strike means as well as WMDs in the sky, ground and seas.

The revolutionary strike armed forces of the DPRK have been put on the highest alert to cope with the aggressors' war maneuvers in accordance with the order issued by the Supreme Command of the Korean People's Army.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry also formally informed the UN Security Council that the Korean Peninsula is now in a touch-and-go situation due to the nuclear war provocation moves of the U.S. and south Korean puppet forces.

The DPRK has long made sincere efforts for the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula with its proposal calling for replacing the Korean Armistice Agreement with a peaceful treaty. However, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces have always refused to accept it, responding to it with their hostile moves against the DPRK and war rehearsals for aggression.

The People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru extends positive support and solidarity to all the measures taken by the DPRK to defend the country's supreme dignity and sovereignty and the Korean people who rose up as one in their anti-U.S. sacred war.

The U.S. and its satellite forces and the south Korean puppet forces should immediately stop their moves of enmity against the DPRK and war drills for aggression.

The UNSC should take steps to prevent the aggressors' moves to ignite a war.
