At this juncture, the United States is steadily hurling latest military hardware into south Korea, with the aim of making precision strikes at major military objects in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

In another development, the U.S. allowed south Korea only to purchase bunker-buster, a bomb capable of neutralizing underground nuclear facilities, whose export to other countries has been banned in principle.

Such moves are intended to disable the DPRK's nuclear deterrent, the mainstay in foiling the deep-rooted U.S. hostile policy toward it, and eradicate socialist Korea from the world's map.

In fact, the U.S. has ceaselessly reinforced its armed forces in the Korean Peninsula to aggravate the tension, after militarily occupying south Korea to use it as a lever for realizing its strategy for supremacy over the Asia-Pacific region.

In the period of the Korean War (June 1950-July 1953), it deployed an aircraft carrier loaded with nukes in waters off Inchon.

In July 1957 it began massively shipping nuclear weapons into south Korea, and at least 1 700 U.S.-made nuclear weapons of various types have been deployed there.

More than 100 U.S. military bases were set up throughout south Korea, with an estimated 37 000 troops at present.

The U.S. Defense Department now intends to give priority to military aids to south Korea, though it is hard pressed for reduction of defense budget.

All the facts go to clearly show it is none other than the U.S. that has created a serious nuclear war crisis in the Korean Peninsula, wrecking the regional peace and security.

Ri Kwang Chol, an officer of the Korean People's Army, said:

The U.S. imperialists' attack on the DPRK, a nuclear state, will be as good as an act of inviting their own destruction

It is quite right for the DPRK to beef up its nuclear deterrent.

If they finally provoke a war, we will deal a preemptive nuclear strike to it, thereby putting an end to the vicious cycle of tension.
