Russia, China to Jointly Cope with U.S. Military Strategy: News Analyst
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- As the U.S. pivot-to-Asia-Pacific strategy has entered the phase of its implementation, Russia and China are jointly reacting to it, drawing the world's attention.

The U.S. deputy secretary of Defense underscored the need to transfer more forces to the Asia-Pacific region as the defence pivot is shifting to that region. He clarified that 60 percent of the U.S. naval force, in particular, would be deployed in the region by 2020.

Russian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lyavkov said the U.S. announcement that it would give up the fourth phase of the European missile shield does not mean a concession made to Russia.

The Chinese newspaper Huan Qiu Shibao commented the U.S. efforts to tighten the military alliance in the Asian-Pacific region are aimed at keeping controlling its traditional allies in that region and preparing for a new Cold War with China.

Under the prevailing situation the military cooperation between Russia and China for jointly coping with the U.S. strategy is entering a full-fledged stage.

A typical example of this was Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Russia in March last.

The heads of the two countries emphasized at the talks that the two countries could not allow their strategic stability and security to be affected by the unilateral and limitless expansion of the missile shields, the U.S. in mind. They agreed upon jointly coping with the U.S. military threat.

A Chinese military delegation during its visit to Russia watched a computer simulation test that showed how the realization of the U.S. plan for missile shield will affect the regional and strategic stability and expressed its will to develop dialogue with Russia in missile defense field.

An agreement was signed between the two countries on Russia's supply of 24 Cy-35 fighters to China and the joint building of four Lada-class diesel-powered submarines.

Analysts paid attention to the fact that Xi Jinping was the first foreign head of state who visited the Russian Ministry of Defense and the operation control centre of the federal armed forces, adding that cooperation between Russia and China in the military field was making rapid progress.

AFP also commented that Russia and China were getting closer with each other in the course of jointly coping with the hegemony of the U.S.

Foreign media predict that the contradiction and friction will grow deep between the two countries and the U.S. as the U.S. moves for military domination over the Asian-Pacific region will be evermore undisguised in the days ahead.
