Japan's Crimes in Imjin Patriotic War
Pyongyang, April 13 (KCNA) -- The Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598) was one of the wars fought by the Korean people against the Japanese aggressors.

On April 13, 1592, Japan began invading Korea with mobilization of some 158 700 ground troops and tens of thousands of seamen.

Upon landing on Korea, the samurais of Japan ran wild in slaughtering inhabitants and plundering their properties. They went the lengths of cutting off people's ears and noses to ship them to Japan.

According to historical data, more than hundreds of thousands of Koreans were killed during the two rounds of the samurais' raids.

The samurais took away Korean scholars, monks, medical men, painters, architects and other talents to Japan to force slavery labor upon them and whisked off women for "sexual slavery".

The invaders destroyed royal palaces, schools, temples and houses and robbed tombs wherever they went and pillaged all kinds of national assets, including books, paintings, metal types, ceramics, sculptures of Buddha and bells.

Their acts were, indeed, the vandalism towards Korea's advanced culture.

Japan lost the war in November 1598 by the nationwide resistance of the Korean people.

Its crime-woven history can never be erased though many centuries have passed after the war.

Still now, Japan remains unchanged in its ambition for overseas aggression. It is taking the lead in clamping sanctions on the DPRK over its satellite launch and underground nuclear test.

The army and people of the DPRK are determined to settle accounts with Japan at all costs.
