The Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea in a statement on March 28 demanded the U.S. and south Korean authorities stop at once the nuclear war provocation against the DPRK.

The U.S. military drills on the Korean Peninsula are a wanton violation of the Armistice Agreement, the statement said.

It urged the U.S. not to screw up the tension on the peninsula unnecessarily but replace the AA with a peace treaty and withdraw its armed forces for aggression from south Korea.

The permanent steering committee of the movement of activists groups in a statement on April 1 denounced the U.S. and south Korean authorities for extremely aggravating the situation on the peninsula through provocative war moves for aggression and the Japanese authorities for joining them. The statement noted:

The U.S. and its followers Japan and south Korean authorities are very ones who are stoking the danger of a nuclear war on the peninsula. They are opposed to the proposal of the DPRK for replacing the AA by a peace treaty.
