Day of Sun Significantly Celebrated in DPRK

Pyongyang, April 15 (KCNA) -- The birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung (the Day of the Sun) was significantly celebrated across the country. People from all walks of life and school youth and children laid floral baskets, bouquets and flowers before the statues of Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il before paying tribute to them. Mangyongdae, birthplace of the President, drew an endless crowd of visitors. The venue of the 15th Kimilsungia Festival, provincial Kimilsungia show halls and Kimilsungia-Kimjongilia greenhouses in cities and counties were also crowded with visitors. Art performances were given at theatres, cultural houses and open-air stages in Pyongyang and local areas before full houses. The performers impressively represented their yearning for the President, peerless patriot and legendary hero, in numbers including female trio and chorus immortal classic masterpiece "Nostalgia," song and dance "Day of Sun, Spring Holiday" and male solo and chorus "Sing, Fork to Mangyongdae". Artistes and students of North Hwanghae and South Hamgyong provinces gave performances at the North Hwanghae Provincial Art Theatre and Hamhung Grand Theatre. They impressively showed that the history of the President is given steady continuity thanks to the peerlessly great men. Officials and other people, members of the women's union and youth and students in Sinuiju, Kanggye, Wonsan and Kaesong cities presented grand choruses in high praise of the undying exploits the great men performed by devoting themselves to turning the country into a socialist fairyland good to live and work. Institutions at all levels in Pyongyang and local areas spent a pleasant day, playing sports such as soccer, basketball, volleyball and table-tennis. Public catering establishments across the country including Thongil Restaurant, Kyongam Restaurant, Kanggye Chicken Entrails Soup Restaurant, Taehung Noodle-house served people with diverse food. The seats of provinces, cities and counties were beautifully decorated with peculiar lighting on the holiday evening. |
