The power station is associated with undying leadership feats of leader Kim Jong Il and the dear respected Kim Jong Un who worked heart and soul to carry out the grand plan of President Kim Il Sung on building a large power base in the Chongchon and Jangja rivers.

Kim Jong Il opened a grand blueprint to build the power station till the 100th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung. He visited the construction site in March, Juche 98 (2009), clearly indicated the orientation and way of building. He took revolutionary steps to push forward the construction of the power station with the whole party, army and people involved.

Service personnel of the Korean People's Internal Security Forces (KPISF) and employees of the power station successfully erected the monument with natural granite with one mind to convey long the feats of the peerlessly great men.

A ceremony took place on Wednesday.

Present there were Ryu Yong Sop, chief secretary of the Jagang Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Tok Hun, chairman of the Jagang Provincial People's Committee, officials concerned, service personnel of the KPISF, shock brigade members, employees of the power station and other people in Huichon City.

At the end of the ceremony the participants went round the monument, being briefed on it.
