Japan Accused of Seeking Benefit from Crisis on Korean Peninsula
Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- The south Korean weekly Media Today carried an article on April 17 denouncing Japan for hamstringing the efforts to achieve peace on the Korean Peninsula.

It accused Japan of its behavior contrary to the peaceful settlement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, talking about its Self-Defence Forces' reaction in contingency.

The statement recalled that the Japanese ambassador to south Korea addressing a seminar on April 17 said that the SDF would make efforts to secure a sea route and that the majority of personnel and supplies heading for the Korean Peninsula should go via the U.S. forces bases in Japan when necessary.

Earlier, the Japanese Prime Minister said at talks with the U.S. secretary of State that Washington should neither make haste to have dialogue with the north nor forget what happened in the past.

All the facts indicate Japan wants a military conflict on the Korean Peninsula in the final analysis.

The south Korean public is becoming increasingly critical of Japan trying hard to benefit from the crisis on the peninsula in a bid to justify its military build-up.
