Withdrawal of U.S. Troops from S. Korea Called for
Pyongyang, April 22 (KCNA) -- Various civic and social organizations in south Korea launched a Wednesday action for peace against war and in demand of the withdrawal of U.S. troops from south Korea outside the U.S. Forces Command in Seoul on April 17. They included the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification, the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy and its Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience.

At a ceremony of declaring the action the speakers said the situation prevailing on the Korean Peninsula calls for rooting out the source of constant danger of war which has lasted for the past six decades since the armistice.

They continued: The U.S. occupied south Korea, depriving its people of their right to existence and sovereignty. Not content with this, it seeks to bring the whole of Korea under its control.

It is necessary to see through and lay bare the true colors of the U.S. forces present in south Korea.

It was none other than the U.S. troops in south Korea who mercilessly killed people on Jeju Island who staged an action against "separate elections and separate government" in demand of setting up a unified government. It was again the U.S. troops who ignited the Korean war and massacred millions of Koreans.

They held that the U.S. forces should be forced out of south Korea as early as possible as they are still present there without dropping the imperialist ulterior aim for hegemony.

A statement for the occasion was read out there.
