Kim Il Sung, Founder of Revolutionary Armed Forces in Korea
Pyongyang, April 25 (KCNA) -- President Kim Il Sung is a peerless hero of the Korean nation as he paved a way for building the revolutionary armed forces to liberate Korea from Japan's colonial rule.

In the late 19th century Korea underwent trials due to the outsiders' aggression moves, and was finally reduced to a colony of the Japanese imperialists in the early 20th century.

Enraged at Japan's occupation of Korea, many people launched such resistance movements as the Righteous Volunteers' Army Movement and the Independence Army Movement, only to be put down by the atrocious Japanese aggressors. After all, some of those engaged in the independence movement came to have an idea that, for the country's independence, it was needed to develop the national strength or conduct diplomacy.

At that historic time, Kim Il Sung decided to stage an all-out war against the strong Japanese imperialist aggressors. He drew a conclusion that armed struggle should be waged to liberate Korea from the Japanese imperialist aggressors and the struggle be based on guerrilla warfare by the standing revolutionary armed forces under the specific conditions of the country.

On this basis he specified the ways for launching the anti-Japanese armed struggle at the Winter Mingyuegou Meeting in Juche 20 (1931).

Then, he founded the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army, the first revolutionary armed forces in Korea, on April 25, 1932 and at last liberated the country from the Japanese imperialists through armed struggle.
