It is the heroic KPA's mettle to mercilessly punish any provokers who hurt the dignity of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, no matter where they are.

At about 10:45 on December 17, 1994 a U.S. reconnaissance helicopter intruded deep into the sky above Ipho-ri, Kumgang County, Kangwon Province of the DPRK, beyond the Military Demarcation Line in the eastern sector of the front.

An anti-aircraft gun of the KPA shot down the helicopter with a single shot, displaying its fixed will to show no mercy to the aggressors.

The bellicose forces of the U.S. tried to settle the case in a coercive way, concealing its truth. Instead of making an apology, they demanded a prompt repatriation of pilots and threatened that refusal to meet this demand would badly affect the implementation of the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework.

In this regard, general secretary Kim Jong Il instructed the KPA mission in Panmunjom to strongly take the U.S. to task for the case. Accordingly, the mission urged the U.S. side to frankly admit and apologize for the intrusion of the helicopter, declaring that the captured pilots would never be sent back unless it has made an apology.

The U.S. could not but apologize for its intrusion at several rounds of the DPRK-U.S. general-level military talks and contacts, and sign a memorandum of understanding carrying the demands of the DPRK.

This victory was thanks to the superb strategy and matchless pluck of Kim Jong Il, the gifted illustrious commander who made neither concession nor compromise.

Under his loving care the KPA developed into an invincible army with powerful offensive and defensive means.

The heroic KPA, now led by respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, another brilliant commander, will win the final victory in the ongoing all-out action against the U.S. imperialists and display its might as the powerful revolutionary Paektusan army.
