Present there were personages of the Japan Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea, organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people and Juche idea study organizations and masses.

Present there on invitation were So Chung On, director of the International Affairs and Reunification Department of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), and other Chongryon officials.

Fumihiro Himori, chairman of the Japan committee, made a report at the meeting, which was followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers praised the sacred revolutionary career and undying feats of Kim Il Sung, saying that he devoted himself to socialist construction, the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, the normalization of Japan-DPRK relations and peace and stability in Northeast Asia in the idea of independence, peace and friendship.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula has become tenser than ever before due to the U.S. and its followers' policy toward the DPRK, they said, adding: In order to defuse the crisis on the peninsula it is necessary to conclude a DPRK-U.S. peace treaty.

They said that they would conduct positive activities to have the Korean Armistice Agreement (AA) replaced by a peace treaty this year marking the 60th anniversary of the signing of the AA by fulfilling the responsibility and duty as the people of Japan which enforced a colonial rule over Korea for decades.

The present Japanese government is enforcing an undisguised discrimination policy against Koreans in Japan, they said, noting that they would wage a staunch struggle against this.

They hoped that the Korean people would register successes in building a thriving socialist nation under the leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, the successor to the cause of Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il, and that Korea would be reunified independently, the relations between Japan and the DPRK be normalized and peace and stability be ensured in Northeast Asia as early as possible.
