World Forum on Peace of Korean Peninsula Held in France
Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- A world forum on peace of the Korean Peninsula took place in France on April 20.

Present there were political and public figures and members of organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in different countries, including France and Germany.

Speaking at the forum, the vice-president of the France-Korea Friendship Association talked about the background of the nuclear issue on the peninsula and its essence.

Peace on the Korean Peninsula is not threatened by the DPRK but by the U.S. seeking to rule the world after putting the Asia-Pacific region under its control, the vice-president said, adding:

The U.S. has escalated tension, not promoting peace, in the region for its world supremacy strategy.

The DPRK's access to nuclear weapons is a result of the persistent threat by the U.S.

The DPRK's nuclear deterrent and its scientific and technological strength guarantee peace in the region.

Other speakers expressed deep concern about the touch-and-go situation prevailing on the peninsula due to the new war preparations of the U.S. They denounced the U.S. for such highhanded and arbitrary practices as violating international law and the UN Charter and engaging in aggression and interference in independent countries.

They called upon peace champions of the world to launch activities for checking the U.S. moves to start another war on the peninsula.
