Cuban Paper Accuses U.S. of Deteriorating Korean Peninsula Situation

Pyongyang, May 5 (KCNA) -- The Cuban paper Granma carried a commentary titled "Adding fuel to the flames on the Korean Peninsula" on April 27. The commentary revealed that historically, the U.S. has violated the Korean Armistice Agreement, frequently staging war drills against the DPRK. It went on: Recently, the situation on the Korean Peninsula has been worsened due to the U.S. seeking to increase its influence in the Asia-Pacific region. From March 1 the U.S. has staged war drills together with south Korea with huge aggressor troops and nuclear strike means involved. Such saber-rattling has compelled the DPRK to take strong countermeasures. The U.S. is adding fuel to the flames by introducing latest war means into the peninsula. The acute situation on the peninsula is suitable to the U.S. in its effort to extend the sphere of its influence to the Asia-Pacific region. A high-ranking official of the European Union told a press conference that in its aggression moves the U.S. pursues a strategic aim to press China and Russia after occupying the DPRK. We should bear in mind again that the imperialists' ambition is pushing the world to another nuclear crisis. |
