Pyongyang, May 7 (KCNA) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has many pieces of paintings on legends of Mt. Paektu, which were created by the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters and patriotic artists in the period of the Japanese colonial rule over Korea. The paintings portraying President Kim Il Sung paved a way for the development of realistic figure painting. Typical of them is the Korean painting "General Kim's Order Echoes through Valleys of Mt. Paektu", created by Ri Song Hwa in 1937. The painting shows Kim Il Sung in white coat with binoculars in his hand against the background of clouds hovering over Lake Chon on Mt. Paektu. It also displays a tiger sitting on cloud in a posture safeguarding Kim Il Sung. Seen in the lower part of the canvas are Japanese soldiers, who surrender to Kim Il Sung, overpowered by his roar. The painting eloquently shows that Kim Il Sung would unfailingly sweep away the Japanese invaders. Among others are the Korean painting "Kim Il Sung, Tiger of Mt. Paektu", the pen drawing "General Kim Smashes Enemies Stationed in Liudaogou" and the woodcut "Commander Kim Il Sung Mapping Out Operational Plan". |
