U.S. Is Responsible for Tense Situation on Korean Peninsula: Finnish Paper
|

Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- Tyokansan Sanomat, organ of the Communist Workers' Party of Finland for the Peace and Socialism, carried an article on May 1 accusing the U.S. of deteriorating the situation on the Korean Peninsula. The article said: The threat of war to the peninsula is coming from the U.S. The West releases misinformation that the U.S. works hard to prevent a war but it is hypocrisy. The U.S. has always been an aggressor and it, therefore, can never be a country ensuring global peace. The root cause of war on the peninsula clearly lies in the U.S. military presence in south Korea, its persistent moves to stifle the DPRK and Washington's nuclear war maneuvers. It is quite natural for the DPRK to make tough counteractions against the large-scale military exercises being staged in south Korea and its vicinity. It was the U.S. that compelled the DPRK to have access to nuclear weapons and the former is entirely to blame for having strained the situation on the peninsula. It was the U.S., Japan and south Korea that derailed the six-party talks. It was again the U.S. which prodded the UN Security Council into cooking up an entirely unreasonable "resolution on sanctions" against the DPRK over its satellite launch for peaceful purposes and has staged provocative joint military drills in south Korea. The U.S. should immediately defuse its threat to the DPRK, opt for concluding a peace treaty and rescind all measures for sanctions. |
