The work, made public on August 4, Juche 86 (1997), clarifies the immortal exploits President Kim Il Sung performed in accomplishing the cause of national reunification.

It formulates the three principles of national reunification, 10-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo as the three charters for national reunification and indicates the tasks and ways to carry out the cause of the country's reunification based on them.
