Ultra-Right Conservative Forces Accused of Insulting Participants in Kwangju Popular Uprising
Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- The right-wing conservative forces in south Korea have committed a series of reckless acts of distorting and defaming the essence of the May 18 Kwangju Popular Uprising, sparking off indignation among people of various social strata, according to the south Korean Kyunghyang Daily News on May 17.

The students' council of the literary college in Korea University of south Korea opened a photo exhibition outside the building of the university on May 15 to introduce the struggle of the participants in the Kwangju Popular Uprising.

That night unidentified hooligans committed such rowdyism as besmirching photos there before posting a leaflet terming the uprising "a rebellion" and a photo of traitor Chun Doo Hwan who commanded the massacre in Kwangju.

Not content with this, they openly posted their vandalism on an internet website and did not hesitate to brand the sponsors of the photo exhibition as "left-wing forces".

On May 7 the side of Songsin Women's University removed a wall-paper displayed by its students on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the uprising under the pretext that it failed to get any "prior permission."

Students formally applied for displaying the wall paper, but the university side turned it down for the mere reason that it dealt in detail with the actions of the uprisers.

The ultra-right conservative forces have become more reckless in their acts of defaming the actions of the south Korean people for independence, democracy and reunification under the rule of the daughter of the "yusin" dictator.
