Rodong Sinmun Flays U.S., Japan for Seeking Closer Alliance

Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- The U.S.-Japan alliance is extremely dangerous military one for aggression as it is aimed to stifle some countries in the Asia-Pacific region by force of arms, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a bylined article. It is ridiculous of the U.S. and Japan to underscore the need for closer alliance under the pretext of "threat" and guarantee of "security," the article says, laying bare the sinister aims sought by Washington and Tokyo through tightened alliance. Washington seeks to establish domination over the region by deterring challenging "dangerous forces" and preventing the emergence of a power by dint of unchallenged military edge, the article notes, and goes on: However, the equilibrium of forces in the Asia-Pacific region is now turning unfavorable to the U.S. The U.S. is channeling great efforts into tightening the military alliance for aggression with its followers while beefing up its forces to turn the situation favorable to it and expand the sphere of its domination over the region. To this end Washington is attaching importance to Japan. Japan, too, is prioritizing the tightening of the alliance with the U.S. in pursuance of its own objective. The Japanese militarists remain unchanged in their scenario to realize their old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" which they failed to achieve in the past. They seek to realize it with the backing of the U.S. Closer alliance between Washington and Tokyo constitutes a serious threat to the peace and security of the world including the DPRK, the article says, adding that the prevailing situation requires the people of the DPRK to hold higher the banner of Songun and bolster up war deterrent both in quality and quantity. |
