Promising Sites for Developing Underground Resources Found
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- Geological survey teams of the DPRK have found promising sites for developing underground resources in recent years.

They have confirmed scientific and comprehensive data for finding more sites for developing coal and ore mines and exploring for new ore deposits.

The South Phyongan Provincial Prospecting Bureau is focusing efforts on prospecting coal deposits. Officials and other people of the Puksan Geological Survey Team and other units have given priority to geological survey and increased the survey speed, finding out rich coal deposits and securing sites for detailed prospecting of coal deposits.

Members of the geological survey teams under the South Hwanghae and Kangwon provincial prospecting bureaus have made achievements in confirming areas rich in iron ore with a good prospect of development and their deposits.

The Ryanggang and North Hamgyong provincial prospecting bureaus have reported signal successes in prospecting non-ferrous metallic and non-metallic resources. They have conducted preliminary prospecting of areas, developing promising ore deposits.

The North Phyongan Provincial Prospecting Bureau has pushed forward prospecting of rare metal and rare earth element minerals abundant in the country, paving the way for building a leading ore mine.

A prospecting operation is making rapid progress in Pyongyang and other parts of the country to find out and use underground water and geothermal resources rich in them.
