Rodong Sinmun Calls for More Dynamic Struggle for Democracy against Fascism
Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- The prevailing situation calls on people from all walks of life in south Korea to turn out as one in the struggle to resolutely foil the moves for reviving dictatorship and put an end to the fascist rule by carrying forward the spirit displayed by the Kwangju resistance fighters.

Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in a bylined article.

The present ruling quarters in south Korea are misinterpreting the historical significance of the Kwangju Popular Uprising and the spirit of democracy and working hard to dampen it in an open bid to revive dictatorship and embellish it, the article notes, and goes on:

Something astonishing is happening in south Korea these days. Ultra-right conservatives malignantly defamed the uprising as a "riot of mobs in which a special unit of the north was involved" and disallowed the singing of the song "March for the Love" reflecting the soul of martyrs.

It was well known that the present chief executive of south Korea began her politics to reinstate the "yusin" dictator. As a matter of fact, the chief of Chongwadae faithfully carried forward the ruling method of the "yusin" dictator. She appointed remnants of the "yusin" junta and their descendants as bosses of the Intelligence Service, prosecution and other repressive machines.

Such reckless scenario finds a vivid expression in the fact that the puppet ruling quarters are working hard to enact a "legislation" on forcibly dissolving pro-reunification movement organizations while undisguisedly blustering that "security at present is more serious than that in the Cold War era in the 1950s" and "it is necessary to suppress the freedom of expression under this situation."

The historical lesson taught by the uprising teaches independence, democracy and reunification desired by the south Korean people never come of themselves but they can be achieved only through mass actions for democracy against fascism.
