At the conference speakers recalled that the south Korean authorities, citing the issue of the Kaesong Industrial Zone, rejected the proposal of the North Side Committee for holding an event common to the nation in which Koreans from the north, south and overseas are represented on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.

They said the authorities threw away an important opportunity in mending the south-north ties.

Saying they would make strenuous efforts for the opening of the event, they urged the authorities to accept the north's proposal.
