Rodong Sinmun Warns Japan Not to Commit More Crimes against Koreans
Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- When a relevant UN committee some days ago called the present Japanese government's exclusion of Korean schools from the tuition-free program for senor high schools a clear expression of national discrimination, Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Shimomura categorically rejected it. He even said that Korean schools were excluded from the program as they have close relations with the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan and the DPRK. Moreover, he talked rubbish that the program is applied to the Korean students studying at Japanese schools, adding that it, therefore, could never be a national discrimination. He went so indiscreet as to vow to convey the government's stand to the UN.

His remarks mean that Japan did nothing wrong but the UN made an error by misunderstanding the actual situation. This was aimed to justify Japan's measure.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday observes in a bylined commentary in this regard:

What matters is that Shimomura's outbursts are not prompted by some authorities' stand and Japan's step is by no means a temporary one.

This step was taken by the Japanese government, pursuant to its policy, the commentary says, and goes on:

The Japanese reactionaries seek to inflict financial burden on the Koreans in Japan in a bid to put psychological pressure on them as well as quench the spirit of national self-esteem and pride of Korean students in Japan whose view of the world is now taking shape.

They are working hard to prevent the new generation from learning Korean language and history and write off the national character of the Koreans in Japan.

Japan is committing more crimes against the Korean people.

The commentary warns the Japanese authorities to behave themselves.
