Pyongyang, June 1 (KCNA) -- A joint friendly gathering took place at the Mangyongdae Amusement Park here on Saturday, the 63rd anniversary of International Children's Day.

Attending it were local children and women, children and women of diplomatic missions and international agencies here and other foreigners.

They spent an enjoyable day, mixing with each other.

KCNA had an interview with Kim Myong Suk, vice-chairwoman of the C.C., Democratic Women's Union of Korea.

Question: It is well known that the DPRK Government is giving nursing and preschool education to children at its expense.

Answer: That's right. The DPRK has enforced the most advantageous system for the preschoolers.

A large number of nurseries and kindergartens in the country were all built at the state expense. And weekly nurseries and kindergartens are operated for convenience of working women.

Each residential district has school, nursery, kindergarten and children's amusement facility in good places.

Q: Please tell me about the educational and supply systems for preschoolers in the country.

A: One-year compulsory preschool education is given to kindergarteners to get them ready for primary school education.

There are nursery-kindergarten materials supply stations in all counties and districts of the country, which regularly provide toys, teaching aids and foodstuff to nurseries and kindergartens in their areas. Many of institutions and factories work exclusively for children, including garment and foodstuff factories and the institute of nutrition.

Q: President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il paid deep attention to ensuring wellbeing of children in their lifetime. Can you tell me about it?

A: Calling children a king of country, they showed loving care for the children as much as possible.

Their noble outlook on the posterity is now fully carried forward by the dear respected Kim Jong Un. The children in the country are growing up healthily under his warm care.
