S. Korean Regime Accused of Misleading Public Opinion

Pyongyang, June 2 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Confederation of Trade Unions held a press conference in Seoul on May 30 denouncing the puppet regime for misleading public opinion. At the conference speakers recalled that on the same day the authorities announced the so-called "worker-company-government convention on jobs to ensure 70 percent employment rate" which they worked out in league with the Federation of Businessmen and the Federation of Trade Unions. This convention is nothing but a political advertisement prepared 100 days since the present chief executive's taking office, they charged. The convention did not refer to the major labor issues including those of the Government Employees Union, Teachers Trade Union and Ssangyong Motors and the reckless remarks of the chief executive, they held. Intolerable is the attitude of the authorities seeking to make a retrogressive revision of the wage system and increase job opportunities with low wages, they charged. Noting that the authorities' announcement of the convention on jobs is no more than a prearranged scenario, they declared null and void the closed-door convention which put forward the Federation of Trade Unions as a shield and excluded the Confederation of Trade Unions representing workers. They urged the authorities to opt for ensuring the basic rights of workers and settling the labor issues. They vowed to lay bare the irrationality of the authorities' labor policy from June 4 and escalate their actions with this as a momentum. |
