S. Korean Authorities Urged to Opt for National Reconciliation, Reunification
Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- The U.S. Regional Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) made public a statement on May 27 urging the south Korean authorities to opt for national reconciliation and reunification.

The statement accused the south Korean puppet regime of sentencing Vice-Chairman Ro Su Hui and the secretary general of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon to prison terms and turning down a proposal for holding a joint national event to mark the anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration, chilling the desire of all Koreans for national reconciliation and reunification.

Such violence against democracy as arresting and detaining pro-reunification personages by invoking evil laws such as the "Security Law" is persisting in south Korea, the statement noted, and continued:

The south Korean authorities keep staging joint military exercises with outside forces, escalating the tension on the Korean Peninsula. They are massively purchasing weapons aiming at fellow countrymen in the north by spending a huge amount of money collected from the people as taxes.

Outside forces do not want to see Korea's reunification. National reunification can be achieved only when all the Koreans pool their efforts.

The present south Korean authorities should show their will for reunification by setting free the detained pro-reunification patriotic and conscientious personages and allowing the joint national event to take place.
