Special Dishes of Pyongyang

Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- Pyongyang boasts of its four special dishes -- cold noodle, Onban (cooked rice served in chicken soup), mung-bean pancake and Taedonggang mullet soup. Made of buckwheat, Pyongyang cold noodle is not so persistent but good in chew and flavor. It is served with broth and juice of radish kimchi. As a dish representing Korean cuisines, this noodle is favored by all Koreans in all seasons. Onban is boiled rice covered with sliced chicken, mushroom and mung-bean pancake as well as broth. Among other special dishes of Pyongyang are boiled rice with assorted mixtures and fish porridge. One of their special features is seasoning appropriate to every one. |
