Kim Jong Un Provides Field Guidance to Kosan Fruit Farm
Pyongyang, June 3 (KCNA) -- Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, provided field guidance to the Kosan Fruit Farm.

A large fruit-producing base covering a vast area of nearly 10 ris, including Puphyong, Songpuk, Ryongjiwon and Cholryong, in Kosan region is now under construction as required by the new century.

After being briefed on the farm in front of a large map showing its prospect, Kim Jong Un said the farm visited by leader Kim Jong Il on June 2, 2011 is an important one to which the leader paid special attention as it is directly linked with the people's living.

He learnt in detail about how the Construction Shock Brigade 618 has carried out the last instructions of Kim Jong Il after undertaking the project for building the farm on an expansion basis.

Recalling that Kim Jong Il instructed the farm to build a factory evaporating fruit juice and producing dried apple slices, a fruit storehouse and a factory producing wire net fence, he learnt about how this instruction is being implemented.

Then he acquainted himself with the conditions of growth of dwarf apple trees planted by the farm.

Looking at the fruits on branches of 5-year-old dwarf apple trees, he said he felt as if he were watching trees heavily laden with apples in autumn and expressed satisfaction at the fact that the farm has turned into a young orchard.

In order to radically increase the production of fruits, it is important for the farm to expand the area under fruit cultivation as planned, produce fruit saplings by itself and put the manuring and cultivation of fruit trees, including application of agricultural herbicide, on a sci-tech basis, he noted.

He stressed the need to mass-produce organic compound fertilizer and thus decisively raise the fertility of soil by applying a ring-shaped rotation production system to the combination of fruit farming and stock-breeding.

He also underscored the need for the farm to make full preparations from now on to solve the issues arising in picking and carrying apples and processing fruits, in particular, in keeping with the increase of fruit production.

A combined fruit processing factory should be built on the Kosan Fruit Farm, too, he added.

He dropped in at a water pumping station for dripping irrigation built on the farm. There he acquainted himself with the dripping irrigation as well as technical specifications and performance of the pumping equipment.

He praised the builders and employees of the farm for having introduced a modern irrigation system to put the manuring and cultivation of fruit trees on a highly intensive basis and thus provided a scientific and technological guarantee for boosting the fruit production while safely cultivating the trees.

He was pleased to see the road built by the members of the Construction Shock Brigade 618.

It is meaningful, indeed, that a large orchard has made its appearance at the foot of Chol Pass symbolic of the Songun revolutionary leadership, he said, adding a fresh fairyland called "the sea of apples at foot of Chol Pass" will spring up when the project for expanding the capacity of the farm comes to a finish and a sea of apples is unfolded there.

He went round a factory producing concrete props, roof tiles and bar steel the shock brigade is now running after it built with its own efforts.

The expansion project should be completed unconditionally at the date fixed by Kim Jong Il, he said, adding that to this end, the related units should sincerely help the shock brigade in pushing ahead with the project.

He expressed expectation and belief that the members of the shock brigade and the employees of the farm would make sustained efforts to step up the project and increase the fruit production.

He was accompanied by Kim Kyok Sik, Choe Hwi, Pak Thae Song, Pak Jong Chon and An Ji Yong.
