Marathon for Reunification Held in S. Korea

| Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- A marathon for Korea's reunification marking the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration took place in Jonju City, North Jolla Province on June 2 under the sponsorship of the North Jolla Provincial Headquarters of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration. The marathon brought together at least 3 000 people of all social standings. The full text of the north-south joint declaration was read out to be followed by speeches. The speakers said this event was organized in reflection of the will for peace and reunification. National reunification is a way to survive and a war leads to death, they noted, calling on all people to pool their efforts for building a peace-keeping mechanism. Then the marathon started. After kicking it off, chanting slogans "No War!" and "For Peace!" the participants ran 6.15 km, calling for implementing the June 15 joint declaration. |
