Int'l Peace Declaration Called for in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- The south Korean paper Hangyore on May 29 carried the first ad related to the international peace declaration for ensuring peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

It is 60 years since the Armistice Agreement was concluded, but the worst military tension is prevailing on the Korean Peninsula, the paper noted, and went on:

During the last six decades all Koreans and the world peace-loving people opposed to war have pressed for replacing the cease-fire mechanism on the peninsula by a lasting peace-keeping mechanism as early as possible.

They, at the same time, called for removing the Cold War structure which has been maintained and consolidated under the pretext of Korea's division and ushering in a new era of peace and cooperation.

The negotiations for concluding a peace treaty, however, have not yet started but the military tension has escalated as the days go by.

It is necessary to ensure durable peace on the peninsula through the conclusion of the peace treaty and thoroughly implement the June 15 joint declaration agreed upon between the north and the south and supported by the international community.
