S. Korean Authorities Urged Not to Block Joint National Events
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- The Association of Korean Youth in China issued a statement titled "South Korean authorities should not block joint national events" on May 29.

The statement said the DPRK proposed jointly holding events marking the 13th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration with Koreans from the north and the south and abroad represented there.

But the south Korean authorities flatly rejected the proposal, talking about "suspicion as to the sincerity of the north" and saying "it is aimed to create contradiction among southerners" and "it contained a political intention", the statement charged.

Such act of the south Korean authorities are a grave provocation against the Korean nation desirous of detente and improved inter-Korean relations and a shameless challenge to public opinion at home and abroad as they constitute the height of the confrontation against national reunification, it held.

The south Korean authorities are strongly opposed to the discussion on national concord and reunification at the events marking the anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration by the Koreans themselves, fully revealing their true colors as anti-reunification maniacs, it said.

Their moves should never be pardoned as they are an unpardonable insult to the aspiration of the fellow countrymen, it said, and went on:

All the members of the Association of Korean Youth in China strongly demand the south Korean authorities accept the proposal of the DPRK on holding the joint national events marking the 13th anniversary of the historic north-south joint declaration and immediately allow the organizations of the south side to take part in the events.
