7th Congress of KCU Held

Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The 7th Congress of the Korean Children's Union was held with splendor at the April 25 House of Culture on Thursday. The congress is of great significance in strengthening the KCU developed under the care of the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il into the Songun children's revolutionary organization of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Il Sung formed the Saenal Children's Union, the first children's revolutionary organization in Korea, provided the origin of the Juche-oriented children's movement and closely rallied children around the flag of the anti-Japanese children's corps in order to bring them up to be the iron-willed young revolutionaries. Kim Il Sung founded the KCU after the liberation of Korea. He brightly indicated the way for the Korean children's movement to advance in each period and at each stage of the revolution and energetically led the KCU members to give steady continuity to the revolutionary cause of Juche started on Mt. Paektu. In the last period of his life, he sent a congratulatory message to the participants in the 5th Congress of the KCU and had a picture taken with them. Kim Jong Il, taking the work of bringing up the successors to the revolution as the most important work of the party and the state, wisely led the work with main emphasis on firmly preparing the KCU members to be the genuine child vanguard of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Jong Un made sure that the event of celebrating the 66th anniversary of the KCU was held with splendor last year and had pictures taken with children. He also took part in the joint national meeting of the KCU organizations and made a congratulatory speech. He also provided field guidance to Pyongyang Myohyangsan Children's Camp and the Songdowon International Children's Camp, giving earnest teachings to provide new generation with happy life the whole world will be envious of. Present at the congress were delegates selected from KCU organizations across the country, officials in charge of children's life and other officials concerned. Also present at the congress as observers were children of servicepersons on Jangjae, Mu and Wolnae islets and other frontline posts and schoolchildren in Pyongyang. Marshal Kim Jong Un, the benevolent father of the Korean schoolchildren, appeared on the tribune of honor of the congress hall. A member of the KCU put a red tie around his neck. He congratulated the delegates on their enthusiastic cheers and warmly acknowledged all the participants in the congress. Taking the tribune of honor were KPA Vice Marshal Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, Ri Yong Su, department director of the C.C., the WPK, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, officials of the youth league and officials concerned and KCU members who set an example in study and organizational life. A clarion sounded the start of the congress and the flag of the KCU was hoisted. Two agenda items were put up for discussion: 1. On the tasks of the KCU to bring up its members to be young revolutionaries and vanguard of Songun era always following the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un in firm conviction; 2. On revision of the rules of the KCU. Jon Yong Nam, chairman of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, made a report on the first agenda. He said the glorious course of the KCU has been associated with the deep loving care of the Generalissimos who provided deep and firm roots for the Juche-oriented children's movement and led the KCU step by step in line with the requirements of the developing revolution. He referred to the great successes of the KCU after the 6th congress under the sagacious leadership and meticulous care of Generalissimo Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un. He called upon the KCU members to cherish honor and pride of being members of glorious Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's KCU and firmly prepare themselves to be reliable successors of the Songun revolution faithful to Kim Jong Un, true to their pledges before the KCU flags. Speeches followed the report. The speakers talked about their honor of taking part in the congress in the presence of Marshal Kim Jong Un and their pride of acquiring ample knowledge, good moral character and good health under the deep care of the peerlessly great persons. They also vowed to carry forward the traditions of Mt. Paektu under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea. Kim Jong Un heard with keen interest the speeches of delegates, warmly applauding them. A decision on the first agenda was adopted. They discussed and decided upon the second agenda. |
