Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Guinean broadcasting services aired special programs on May 30 on the occasion of the 13th anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration. The Guinean domestic radio said under the title "Echo of June 15 era": An astonishing event took place in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, in June 2000. There took place the north-south summit, the first of its kind, 55 years since the division of the Korean nation and the historic June 15 joint declaration which calls for settling the issue of Korea's reunification in an independent and peaceful way was adopted there. The October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing the June 15 joint declaration, was adopted in 2007, which resulted in opening up a brighter prospect for the Korean nation's reunification movement. All Koreans called such astonishing event the "June 15 era of reunification". But after the emergence of the Lee Myung Bak regime in south Korea the movement for Korea's reunification faced a grave challenge. As soon as Lee came to power, he totally denied the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration. The north-south relations became tenser due to the Park Geun Hye regime. But the spirit of the June 15 era lives on. The Korean nation is now waging a nationwide struggle to preserve the June 15 joint declaration and usher in the era of peace, reunification and prosperity again. The international community sincerely hopes that the Korean nation will achieve the reunification of the country at an early date under the banner of the joint declarations and consolidate the peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. The international radio and seven national languages radio of Guinea reported a similar program. |
